Exploratory Artistry

Born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sonny Craig Gurule grew up in an environment that cultivated creativity. Influenced by his father’s acclaimed woodcarving and a family of painters, sculptors and musicians, Sonny’s unique early life experiences were the driving force behind his eclectic body of work.

Early in his career, Sonny worked  for a prominent gallery where he was influenced and mentored by current Masters of the American West and Impressionist painters.

After moving to Los Angeles in the early 2000s, Sonny worked extensively with art suppliers and manufacturers. Given the opportunity to expand his use of different media, Sonny’s creative signature coalesced into a forceful and compelling body of work.

Currently Sonny Craig Gurule resides in Laguna Beach where he showcases his art at Studio/Gallery 333.
