Please submit your horse/equestrian artwork to support the Orange County Equestrian Center at the Orange County Fairgrounds. The Horse Show Art Competition is sponsored by Studio 333 and Sweet Art Bakery and your submission fees and donations will go to the Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society. Prizes are $50 (5-11 age group), $100 (12-17 age group), and $150 (18+ age group).
We are partnering with the Orange County Equestrian Center (OCEC) and the Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society to help build awareness of and support for the wonderful community resources at the OCEC. The OCEC is at risk of closing, and we want to show the OC Fair Board of Directors how important it is to keep the OCEC open and on fairgrounds property.
This art contest is open to any artist aged 5 and up who works in our accepted media.
This online art contest is for paintings, sculptures, drawings, mixed media, printmaking, and photography.
Artworks may be created with physical or digital media (Just be sure it’s an original – if digital; painting on an ipad counts; mixed media or enhanced photography counts.)
Registration is $15. We are charging this fee to raise funds for Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society, and a small portion will be used to offset contest prizes.
You may enter up to three pieces of art.
You may enter artworks that have won art contest awards in other shows.
ALL entries (not just winners) will be displayed on Studio 333’s website.
Please limit size to under 200 square inches. (So, artwork size can be 12”x16” or 14”x14”, etc.)
Subject matter must include all or part of a horse, and may include equestrian subject matter.
You may upload whatever image size you are comfortable sharing (We suggest a minimum of 600 pixels on the longest side so the judge has enough resolution to discern details)
A panel of three jurors will select the winners.
Categories are: age 5 through 11 years, 12 through 17 years, and 18 years and older.
The criteria used to judge the different mediums will vary per medium. Overall, here are some of the criteria used in the jurying process: Composition, Content, Line and Shape, Color, the Quality of Light, Texture (both visual and physical), Movement or Flow, Values, Technical Skill and last but not least, art that tells a story, evoking a specific emotion.
Your artwork must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material (If your image infringes upon another’s copyright it will be disqualified).
You may only submit your own artworks that you, personally created.
Make sure that your artwork is signed and that the signature is visible in the image you upload (This helps us with verification – see previous rule)
